There is so much to learn from the trees; they are connected to one another in community, and they care for one another in a myriad of ways. They share nutrients, they protect one another through messaging systems, they care for the saplings, and they thrive in diversity, as each one uniquely contributes to create a sustainable ecosystem. All of these lessons will inform our values and the way we operate. To honor these trees from which we derive inspiration, we will donate $1 for every item purchased to One Tree Planted. 

We believe in every woman’s inherent sovereignty and we know that education and employment increase the chances for women to thrive. We also know that much like trees, when women thrive, their communities thrive. This means that while we welcome all artisans that create beautiful, nature inspired products, we will pro-actively purchase from, and invest in, those that are created by women and women-led businesses that are deeply rooted in their communities.

 We realize that we exist in context and that we draw creative inspiration from the land around us. We acknowledge the Indigenous tribes and communities that stewarded this land before it was brutally stolen from them, and we acknowledge that they are the experts at caring for this land. We seek to respect this history by building relationships with California Indigenous-led organizations that are leading the way in preserving the land and eco-systems. We also try to minimize our footprint by utilizing reusable, eco-friendly shipping materials made from 100% recycled content from Eco-Enclose.

We seek to support healthy and ethical supply chains that empower the artisan. We purchase either directly from the artisan/business owner, or from cooperatives where they are structured in a way that the artisan gets 90% of the price.

We are inspired by the art and poetry of nature and will feature products that share this connection. Our clothing color palette is mostly derived from the common colors of the California landscape. All of our featured products are handcrafted and made with natural ingredients. We also operate seasonally, which is a happy accident and coincidently matches the beautiful rhythms of nature.

These are two inextricably connected values. Often, caring for one, means caring for the other. We will promote products and books that encourage both holistic self-care and joyous community care. We will practice community care by highlighting and donating to non-profits that are aligned with our values. We plan to highlight and donate to a different women-led, Indigenous-led, and/or Environmental non-profit seasonally. Thank you for donating with us!
